 ―Application Precedure―

A foreign national child who has made a notification of moving-in to Yaizu City and wishes to enter (or transfer to) an elementary or junior high school needs to go through the application procedures below.

First, it is the prerequisite that your child has already made a notification of moving-in to Yaizu City.  Please do so at the Citizens Section (SHININKA) at Yaizu City Hall.

Please take the following procedure if you wish to have your child enter a school in Japan:

1 Submit application to the Board of Education

(1)Call Yaizu Municipal Board of Education to make an appointment for submission of your application.

(2)Submit your child’s application at the Board of Education.  You must bring your and your child’s passports, residence cards or special permanent resident certificates, and your seal if you have one.

Important: Please come with an interpreter if you don’t speak Japanese.

2 Confirm details with the school

(1)After submitting the application to the Board of Education, call the school your child expects to go to, and make an appointment to meet the school staff to learn about the details of the school.

(2)Go to the school to receive information on school rules, life, tuition, etc.

(3)Discuss from which date your child expects to start to go to school with school

staff.

Important: Please come with an interpreter if you don’t speak Japanese.

Important points when submitting your application

A notification of your child’s moving-in must be completed, or he/she will not be allowed to enter a school.

Your child’s school has already been determined by the school district you live in.

In principle, your child will be put in the grade depending on his/her age.

The appointment date with the Board of Education and that with the school will most likely be different.  Please keep that in mind and be ready to spend a couple of days for these events.

School lessons and life are all in Japanese.  Please obtain information on school life in general from school staff thoroughly before your child enters school.

Your child will receive the same education and treatment as Japanese children.  Please be reminded that you and your child make sure to follow the school rules.

If your child has been going to school in Japan, or if your child transfers to another school in Japan, please inform the schools and the Board of Education of the matter.

If your child quits school, you must file the necessary paperwork at the school.

Should you have any questions, please contact Yaizu Municipal Board of Education.
