1 SOCIAL HEALTH INSURANCE (KENKO HOKEN) – (KYOKAI KENPO, KENKO HOKEN KUMIAI)

This insurance covers the holder and their dependants in case of sickness and injury.  The insurance will cover 70% of the total medical expenses, meaning your personal payment is 30%.  The insurance premium differs according to the income bracket the holder’s income falls into.  Half of the premium costs are paid for by the holder’s employer.

2 HEALTH CARE SYSTEM FOR THE AGED (KOKI KOREISHA IRYO SEIDO)

This insurance policy is for the people aged 75 and older, and people with certain disabilities aged 65 and older.  The holder of this insurance pays 10% to 30% of the medical expenses at medical institutions depending on which income bracket the holder’s income falls into. The premium is determined per holder based on their income and the length of the contributing period.

3 NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE (KOKUMIN KENKO HOKEN)

This type of insurance covers the holder and their dependants living in Yaizu City against sickness and/or injury.  30% of the total medical expenses are paid by the holder.  The insurance premium is determined per household based on the income of the holder, their assets, and the number of people per household enrolled in the National Health Insurance.
