FOREIGN REGISTRATION(GAIKOKUJIN TOROKU)

 If you wish to stay in Japan over 90 days, you must register at the public office of the village, town or city where you wish to stay. If you are under 16, your parents or others living with you must apply for you.

(If you are registered in Oigawa area, the following procedures should be completed at the Oigawa Citizen’s Service Center.)

 

1 PROCEDURE (TETSUZUKI)


(1) What you must show or submit:

  • Passport (RYOKEN)
    -Not necessary if you have not been issued one.
  • Application Form (SHINSEISHO)

           -Available at the foreign registration counter at City Hall

  • Two Photos (SHASHIN) (*Not necessary for those under 16 years old)

           -W3.5cm×H4.5cm, full face, upper half of the body without a hat or a cap. Must be taken within the past six months.

 

(2) About the issuance of a Foreign Registration Card(GAIKOKUJIN TOROKU SHOMEISHO)

Once you have completed the application procedures as described above, your Foreign Registration Card will be issued within 2 to 4 weeks from the application date. (*If the applicant is under 16 years old, the card will be issued on the same day.)

  • It is required that you carry your card at all times. You must present your card on request.
  • If you have lost your card, please apply for the new card within 14 days from the date you lost your card.

 

 

(3) In case of renewing your registration card 

If you wish to renew your registration, you must follow the initial application procedure. An application for renewal must be undertaken within 30 days from the date shown on the card. 

 

2 CHANGE OF INFORMATION (HENKO)

(1) In case of any change of your name, your address, the name of the company you work for,

the VISA status and period of your stay, or other relevant information, please make a notification at City Hall.

You need your passport when your VISA status or period of your stay has changed.

(2) In case of moving out of Yaizu:

Please undertake the procedure of moving in at the local office of the village, town or city you have moved into (you do not need to apply for the notice of move-out).

(3) In case of leaving Japan:

  • If you have the National Health Insurance, you should notify the relevant section at City Hall that you will be leaving Japan.
  • If you do not have a reentry permit, you must give your Foreign Registration Card to the immigration officer at your port of departure.

3 ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATION OF INFORMATION RECORDED ON FOREIGN RESIDENT REGISTRATION (GAIKOKUJIN TOROKU GENPYO KISAI JIKO SHOMEISHO)

 

If for any reason you need a Certification of Information Recorded on Foreign Resident Registration, you can obtain one at City Hall and Oigawa Citizen’s Service Center.

Documents required for this request are as follows:

  • Application form (SHINSEISHO)

- Available at the foreign registration counter at City Hall.

Items to bring

-The form must have the same signature as the one on the Foreign Registration Card.

-You can download the form from the web page of Citizen’s Section(SHIMIN-KA).

  • Your certification can be issued by the automatic issuance machine if you have already registered your pin number for your Seal Registration Card.
